LAUREN POPPIE
LAUREN POPPIE
Lauren Poppie, 30, grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Her childhood revolved around being outdoors and spending time at the water and in the woods. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout which led her to Aspen in 2018. Lauren has found true inspiration in being surrounded by the beautiful landscapes and people that make our home so special.
She happened upon “relief printmaking” by accident. A happy accident, at that. Finishing up her senior year in school left her with a sense that she had always wished she pursued studio art as a degree. Lauren took an introduction to woodcut relief print course in college as a credit requirement. Although she had always had a passion for art, she was going to college for “hotel restaurant and tourism management.” She immediately connected with the medium and found that she was able to convey her perception of different landscapes in a way that she never could with any other medium. This led to me staying an additional year and graduating with a degree in studio art with an emphasis in relief printmaking. Lauren has continued her art journey after moving to Colorado. She has done small carvings and prints, large custom carvings for private homes and restaurants such as PARC Aspen, and even completed a custom ski line with Wagner Ski’s. Always exploring new ways to push the limits of this medium by introducing different mixed media, and expanding in size and detail.

People experience a shift in their perspective of nature that can evoke a sense of awe, a strong feeling of connection to something larger than oneself. The true understanding of just how the textures and details kind of make you feel...
